5. Add resistance as required.
• For HART/Bell 202 connections, the signal converter must be connected across a
resistance of 250–600 Ω. See the ProLink II manual for more information.
• For RS-485 connections, additional resistance may or may not be required. See the
ProLink II manual for more information.
6. Start ProLink II and click
Connection > Connect to Device. In the Connect dialog box:
a. Select the protocol for your connection type. The ProLink II dialog box is updated to
reflect your choice.
b. Set other required parameters.
c. Click
Connect.
7. If you are using an RS-485 connection, the RS-485 terminals may not be in the desired mode.
To change mode:
a. Power-cycle the device.
b. To connect in service port mode, click
Connect within the 10-second interval after
power-up.
c. To connect in RS-485 mode, wait more than 10 seconds, then click
Connect.
