Common IEEE Commands
The query returns the state of the standard event status enable
register.
Range: Integer, 0 to 255
Standard Event Status Register Query
*ESR?
Queries and clears the standard event status event register. (This is a
destructive read.)
Range: Integer, 0 to 255
Identification Query
*IDN?
Returns an instrument identification information string to GPIB. The
string will contain the model number, serial number and firmware
revision.
The response is organized into four fields separated by commas. The
field definitions are as follows:
• Manufacturer
• Model
• Serial number
• Firmware version
For example:
Hewlett-Packard,E4406A,US00000040,A.01.42
Remarks: An @ in the firmware revision information indicates
that it is proto firmware.
