Measuring Waveforms

Use the procedure that follows to take cursor measurements on waveforms.

Prerequisites 1. At least one waveform must be selected on screen. Or
you can set cursor val ues direct ly using the procedure
referenced at right.
See To Set the Cursor Sources on page 3--90.

2. Press t he CURSORS button (see right). Press:
H once to display verti cal bar cursors (shown below).
H twic e to di splay horizontal bar cursors.
H a third time to display waveform-based cursors.
3. Press t he SELECT button to toggle sel ection between
the two cursors. The acti ve cursor i s t he solid cursor.
4. Turn the General Purpose knob to position each cursor
on the wavef orm t o measure the feature that interests
you.
5. Read the results in the cursor readout.
In the figure shown above, waveform cursors are
used to measure the bit-time of the eye diagram.
Tip. The cursor readout indicates the source time
base and waveform for the select ed cursor; in this
case, the main time base, M1, and channel 1, C1.
