Hardware installation

As shown in Figure I−1, a Remote PC can be installed on the Jupiter network, or on a separate network (e.g., the facility/IT

LAN) connected through a second network interface card (NIC) in the File Server.

If you do connect the File Server to a second network, make sure the two networks are logically separated on separate subnets.

In other words, the devices on the Jupiter network will have IP addresses in one number series and the devices on the facility/IT

network will have IP addresses in another series. For example, the devices on the Jupiter network will typically have IP ad-

dresses in the 192.168.253.x series, while the devices on the facility/IT network might have IP addresses in a range such as

192.168.1.x. In these examples, the subnet mask would be 255.255.255.0 for both class C networks.
