Troubleshooting (continued)
Symptom Cause and countermeasure
Sound comes from
one channel or
unbalanced left
and right volume.
There is severe
hum or noise.
“0:00” (for the
European model)
or “12:00 AM” (for
other models)
flashes in the
display.
The timer cannot
be set.
The timer does not

The remote does

• The speaker cords are not connected properly (+/–).
• The vinyl portion of the speaker cords is inserted into the SPEAKER terminals.
m Connect the speaker cords properly (see page 5).
The speaker placement (left/right) is reversed.
m Place the speakers properly (see page 5).
The heights and distances of the left and right speakers differ greatly.
m Place the speakers as symmetrically as possible.
Two or more speakers are connected to the same SPEAKER terminals.
m Connect only one of the supplied speakers to each set of SPEAKER terminals.
The connected speakers are not the supplied ones.
m Connect the supplied speakers.
A TV, VCR or other source of noise is placed too close to the system.
m Move the system away from the source of noise.
A refrigerator or other source of noise is connected to the same wall outlet.
m Connect the system to a different wall outlet.
m Install a noise filter (commercially available) to the power line.
The power cord was unplugged or a power interruption occurred, erasing the
clock setting.
m Set the clock again (see page 8).

The TAPE CONTROL system cable of the optional TC-PX100 tape deck is not
connected.
m Connect the TAPE CONTROL system cable properly (see page 78).

set the timer to the same time as the system’s timer.
There is an obstacle between the remote and the system.
m Remove the obstacle.
The remote is too far from the system.
m Move the remote closer to the system.
