MD Recording
1 Press FUNCTION repeatedly to switch
the function to MD.
2 Press MENU/NO on the remote.
3 Press l or L (or . or > on
the remote) repeatedly until Setup?
appears, then press ENTER/YES on the
remote.
4 Press l or L (or . or > on
the remote) repeatedly until S.Space
Off or S.Space On appears, then
press ENTER/YES on the remote.
5 Press l or L (or . or > on
the remote) repeatedly to select the
setting, then press ENTER/YES on the
remote.

Turn on the Smart
Space Function
S.Space On
(factory setting)
Turn off the Smart
Space Function
S.Space Off
6 Press MENU/NO on the remote.
To continue and record, follow the
procedures described on the various
recording pages.
Tip
To restart the recording when “Auto Cut” appears,
press MD NX.
Adjusting the recording level
When recording on an MD, you can adjust the
recording level to the desired volume. You can
adjust the recording level not only when
making an analogue recording, but also when
making a digital recording from a CD, etc.
1 Start playing the desired source to
record.
2 Press z MD (or MD z on the remote).
The MD deck stands by for recording.
3 Press MENU/NO on the remote to
display Setup?, then press ENTER/
YES on the remote.
4 Press l or L (or . or > on
the remote) repeatedly until Level
Adjust? appears, then press ENTER/
YES on the remote.
5 Press l or L (or . or > on
the remote) repeatedly to adjust the
recording level.
Adjust to the optimum level while making
sure that “OVER” does not appear in the
display at the loudest portion.
6 Press ENTER/YES on the remote.
7 Press MENU/NO on the remote.
8 Press x.
The MD deck stops.
To continue and record, follow the
procedures described on the various
recording pages.
Tips
You can also adjust the recording level during
recording.
Once adjusted, the recording level is maintained
until you adjust it again.
You cannot adjust the recording level during
CD-MD Synchro Recording.
