RT-20 Universal Disc Player Setup
3-7
DOLBY DIGITAL OUT
Controls Dolby Digital audio output format when a Dolby Digital
source is present and the RT-20 is using a digital audio output
connector. This parameter has no effect when using any of the analog
output connectors.
Select Bitstream if the associated component is compatible with
Dolby Digital sources. The RT-20 will pass Dolby Digital signals
directly to the associated component. Select PCM if the associated
component is not compatible with Dolby Digital sources. The RT-20
will convert Dolby Digital signals to PCM before passing them to the
associated component.
DTS OUT
Controls DTS audio output format when a DTS source is present
and the RT-20 is using the digital audio output connector.
Select Bitstream if the associated component is compatible with
DTS sources or has a built-in DTS decoder. The RT-20 will pass DTS
signals directly to the associated component. Select PCM if the
associated component is not compatible with DTS sources. The
RT-20 will convert DTS signals to PCM before passing them to the
associated component.
If associated components are NOT compatible with DTS sources,
they will output DTS noise when:
• A DTS source is present.
• The DTS Out parameter is set to DTS.
MPEG OUT
Controls MPEG audio output format when an MPEG source is
present and the RT-20 is using the digital audio output connector.
Select Bitstream if the associated component is compatible with
MPEG sources. The RT-20 will pass MPEG signals directly to the
associated component. Select PCM if the associated component is
not compatible with MPEG sources. The RT-20 will convert MPEG
signals to PCM before passing them to the associated component.
PCM DOWN SAMPLE
If the digital input of the associated component is compatible with
high sampling rates (96kHz), set this to OFF. When set to ON, high
sampling rate audio is converted to 48kHz. Check the owner’s
manual of the associated component for compatibility.
Note:
Even when set to OFF, some discs will only output down sampled audio
through the digital outputs. High sampling rate DVD-A discs (192kHz
or 176.4kHz) always output audio down sampled to 48kHz or
44.1kHz through the digital outputs. See the “PCM Down Sample
Table” on page 3-9 for more information.
