You may see a single *.xip, *.exe, or
*.zip file, a Setup.exe file, or several
versions of files for different device types
and processors. Be sure to select the
program designed for your phone and
your unit processor type.
4. Read any installation instructions, Read
Me files, or documentation that comes
with the program.
5. Connect your phone to your computer
and make sure that ActiveSync is
running. For more information on the
synchronisation, see page 46.
6. Double-click the *.exe file on the
computer.
If the file is an installer, the installation
wizard will begin. Follow the instructions
on the screen. Once the software has
been installed, the installer will
automatically transfer the software to
your phone.
If the file is not an installer, you will see
an error message, but it is designed for a
different type of computer. You will need
to move this file to your phone. If you
cannot find any installation instructions
for the program in the Read Me file or
documentation, use ActiveSync Explore
to copy the program file to the folder on
your phone. For more information on
copying files using ActiveSync, see
Microsoft ActiveSync Help on your
computer.
7. Once installation is complete, tap
Start
Programs
, and then tap the program
icon to open it.
Adding programs directly from
the Internet
First, you need to determine what your
phone and processor type are so that you
know which version of the software to
install.
