Press the [Disp Format] hardkey.
Press the [WATERFALL SETUP] softkey (F8).
Toggle the [WATERFALL ON OFF] softkey (F1) until ON is highlighted.
The default number of waterfall steps is 15, which means only 15 spectra are kept in
memory and as new data is taken, the oldest spectra is discarded. The maximum
number of waterfall steps which can be kept in memory depends on the RAM option
installed in the AGILENT 35670A and the lines of resolution in each spectra. With
standard memory and one channel active, 130 spectra can be stored with 400 lines of
resolution. With maximum optional RAM, over 1000 spectra may be kept in
memory.
The z-axis range describes how many spectra will be displayed in the waterfall
simultaneously. The default number is 15.
Setting Up Time Step Arm
Waterfall spectra can be acquired at constant intervals of time by arming the
measurement using TIME STEP ARM as follows:
Press the [Trigger] hardkey.
Select the [ARM SETUP] softkey (F7).
Select the [TIME STEP ARM] softkey (F4).
Select the [TIME STEP SIZE] softkey (F8).
Enter 1.5 and press the [S] softkey (F1).
This sets up a 1.5 second time interval between spectra in the waterfall. Note that if
the time record for a frequency span is too long, data cannot be acquired at the
specified time interval. For example when the frequency span is 200 Hz and the
resolution is 400 lines, the time record length is about 2 seconds. Waterfall spectra
cannot be acquired any faster than a 2 second interval.
On the other hand if the time record length is equal to or shorter than the specified
time interval, the measurement will be armed (and triggered, when FREE RUN
TRIGGER is selected) exactly at the time interval increment.
To acquire a waterfall with 15 spectra at 1.5 second intervals, start the measurement:
Press the yellow [Start] hardkey.
Using Slice Markers with Waterfall Data
Examine amplitude vs. time for a specified frequency using the AGILENT 35670A’s
waterfall slice marker. Select the frequency using the waterfall marker, then display
the time history at that frequency as follows:
Press the [Active Trace] hardkey.
Select the [B] softkey (F2).
