Note
Depending on the DVD VIDEO, “4:3 LETTER BOX”
may be selected automatically instead of “4:3 PAN
SCAN” or vice versa.
x COLOR SYSTEM
(Except for Latin American and Russian
models)
Select the color system when you play back a
VIDEO CD.
Tip
You can reset all the DVD settings except for parental
control by performing the operations described under
“To return the DVD setup to the default settings*,
perform reset as follows:” (page 94).
x SCREEN SAVER
Turn on and off the screen saver. If you turn on
the screen saver, the screen saver image appears
when playback is stopped or paused for 15
minutes or when you play back an AUDIO CD,
MP3 audio tracks or JPEG image files (except
during slide show) for more than 15 minutes.
The screen saver prevents your display device
from becoming damaged (ghosting). Press H
(or nN
on the unit) to cancel the screen
saver.
x BACKGROUND
Select the background colour or picture to be
displayed on the TV screen. The background
colour or picture is displayed when the playback
is stopped or while playing an AUDIO CD or
MP3 audio tracks.
x BLACK LEVEL
(Latin American models only)
Select the black level (setup level) for the video
signals output from the video jacks other than
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks.
AUTO Output the video signal according
to the color system of the disc,
either PAL or NTSC.
PAL Change the video signal of an
NTSC disc and output it in the
PAL system.
NTSC Change the video signal of a PAL
disc and output it in the NTSC
system.
ON Turns on the screen saver.
OFF Turns off the screen saver.
JACKET
PICTURE
The jacket picture (still picture)
appears in the background, but
only when the jacket picture is
already recorded on the disc
(DVD VIDEO, CD-EXTRA,
etc.). If the disc does not contain a
jacket picture, the “GRAPHICS”
picture appears.
GRAPHICS The preset picture stored in the
system appears in the
background.
BLUE The background color is blue.
BLACK The background color is black.
ON Set the black level of the output
signal to the standard level.
OFF Lower the standard black level.
Use this when the picture
becomes too white.
