Recording from the radio

5 Press MD REC z.
The MD deck stands by for recording and
“REC” appears in the display.
6 Press MD NX.
Recording starts.
To stop recording
Press MD x.
Tips
If noise is heard while recording an AM radio
program, move the AM loop antenna to reduce the
noise or connect a ground wire to the U terminal
(see page 71).
You can record the MD in monaural format. For
details, see “Monaural recording” on page 42.
To record non-preset stations, press TUNING
MODE repeatedly until “AUTO” and “PRESET”
disappear from the display in step 3, then press
TUNING + or – to tune in the desired station.
Note
If the MD is record protected, “C11” and “Protected”
appear alternately and the MD cannot be recorded.
Remove the MD, then slide the record protection tab
to the closed position (see page 32).
Before pulling out the power
cord
MD recording is completed when the MD Table
of Contents (TOC) is updated. The TOC is
updated when you eject the MD or press ?/1 to
turn off the system. Do not pull out the power cord
before updating the TOC (while “TOC” is lit) or
while updating the TOC (while “TOC” or
“STANDBY” is flashing) to ensure a complete
recording.

2 Press TUNER/BAND to select “FM” or
“AM.”
3 Press TUNING MODE repeatedly until
“PRESET” appears.
4 Press TUNING + or – to select the
desired preset station.
The preset number scrolls in the display,
followed by the frequency.
Frequency (or station name* or RDS station
name**)
When you preset only one station, “ONE
PRESET” appears in the display.
You can also select the preset numbers with
the number buttons on the remote.
* The station name appears only if you have
labeled the station (see page 63).
