Playing a CD (continued)
Recording a CD on an
MD or a tape
You can make a digital recording of a CD on an
MD or an analog recording on a tape.
You can also record a program of favorite tracks
(see pages 32 and 56).
To turn on the system, press ?/1 (power).
Recording on an MD
If you use a partially recorded MD, recording
starts after the recorded tracks. To erase the
recorded contents, see “Erasing recordings” on
page 47.

Tips
If you turn on the system when there is a CD on the
disc tray, the CD indicator lights orange.
If there is no CD in the player, “CD No Disc”
appears in the display.
Pressing CD NX when the system is off
automatically turns on the system and starts CD
play if there is a CD on the disc tray (One Touch
Play).
You can switch from another source to the CD
player and start playing a CD just by pressing CD
NX (Automatic Source Selection).
You can start playing from the desired track in
step 2.
1 Press . or > repeatedly until the desired
track appears.
2 Press CD NX.
Or, press the number buttons on the remote.
The playback automatically starts. To enter track
numbers 10 or over, press >10 and the track
number. To enter 0, use the 10/0 button.
Notes
Do not use a CD with tape, seals or paste on it as
this may damage the CD player.
Do not push the disc tray to close it, as this may
damage the CD player. Press CD Z to close the
disc tray.
If you press CD Z to open or close the disc tray
while listening to another sound source, the CD
indicator lights orange even if there is no CD in the
tray.
To turn off the CD indicator, press FUNCTION
repeatedly to switch the function to CD.
