Instead of manually adjusting the [MIC input] knob or [LINE/PHONO input] knob, you
can use this function to automatically set the optimal input level while you perform the
music you intend to record.

Automatically Setting the Optimal Input Level from Your Rehearsal
Performance (Rehearsal Function)
The Auto Level function can adjust the input level automatically during recording in
response to the loudness of the audio signal. Auto Level is particularly suitable for
recordings that are mainly of human voices, such as a conference or lecture.
To use the Auto Level function, make the following settings in Step 6- on Page 41.
In this case, the input level will be adjusted automatically, so you won’t need to perform
Step 6- .
Set the [MIC LEVEL] switch located on the CD-2i’s side panel to its
“AUTO” (automatic) position.
Adjusting the Input Level Automatically (Auto Level Function)
Switch setting Explanation
MANUAL Record at the input level determined by the [MIC] knob.
AUTO
Turn on the Auto Level function. The input level will be adjusted automatically.
The input level will not change even if you turn the [MIC] knob.
