SPRS268E–MAY2005–REVISEDJANUARY2007
TheC6727extendsSDRAMsupportto256M-bitand512M-bitdevices.
Asynchronousmemorysupportistypicallyusedtobootfromaparallelnon-multiplexedNORflashdevice
thatcanbe8,16,or32bitswide.Bootingfromlargerflashdevicesthanarenativelysupportedbythe
dedicatedEMIFaddresslinesisaccomplishedbyusinggeneral-purposeI/Opinsforupperaddresslines.
Theasynchronousmemoryinterfacecanalsobeconfiguredtosupport8-or16-bit-wideNANDflash.It
includesahardwareECCcalculation(forsingle-biterrors)thatcanoperateonblocksofdataupto
512bytes.
UniversalHost-PortInterface(UHPI)forHigh-SpeedParallelI/O.TheUniversalHost-PortInterface
(UHPI)isaparallelinterfacethroughwhichanexternalhostCPUcanaccessmemoriesontheDSP.
ThreemodesaresupportedbytheC672xUHPI:
•MultiplexedAddress/Data-Half-Word(16-bit-wide)Mode(similartoC6713)
•MultiplexedAddress/Data-FullWord(32-bit-wide)Mode
•Non-MultiplexedMode-16-bitAddressand32-bitDataBus
TheUHPIcanalsoberestrictedtoaccessingasinglepage(64Kbytes)ofmemoryanywhereinthe
addressspaceoftheC672x;thispagecanbechanged,butonlybytheC672xCPU.Thisfeatureallows
theUHPItobeusedforhigh-speeddatatransferseveninsystemswheresecurityisanimportant
requirement.
TheUHPIisonlyavailableontheC6727.
MultichannelAudioSerialPorts(McASP0,McASP1,andMcASP2)-Upto16StereoChannelsI2S.
Themultichannelaudioserialport(McASP)seamlesslyinterfacestoCODECs,DACs,ADCs,andother
devices.ItsupportstheubiquitousIISformataswellasmanyvariationsofthisformat,includingtime
divisionmultiplex(TDM)formatswithupto32timeslots.
EachMcASPincludesatransmitandreceivesectionwhichmayoperateindependentlyorsynchronously;
furthermore,eachsectionincludesitsownflexibleclockgeneratorandextensiveerror-checkinglogic.
AsdatapassesthroughtheMcASP,itcanberealignedsothatthefixed-pointrepresentationusedbythe

anyCPUoverheadtomaketheconversion.
TheMcASPisaconfigurablemoduleandsupportsbetween2and16serialdatapins.Italsohasthe
optionofsupportingaDigitalInterfaceTransmitter(DIT)modewithafull384bitsofchannelstatusand
userdatamemory.
McASP2isnotavailableontheC6722.
Inter-IntegratedCircuitSerialPorts(I2C0,I2C1).TheC672xincludestwointer-integratedcircuit(I2C)

ThetwoI2Cserialportsarepin-multiplexedwiththeSPI0serialport.
SerialPeripheralInterfacePorts(SPI0,SPI1).AsinthecaseoftheI2Cserialports,theC672xDSP
alsoincludestwoserialperipheralinterface(SPI)serialports.ThisallowsoneSPIporttobeconfiguredas
