Installing SoundStructure Devices
This chapter describes how to take the SoundStructure designs created in
Chapters 4 and 5 and upload and confirm that the system is fully functional.
Once the SoundStructure design has been created, the next steps are to match
the physical wiring of the system, upload the settings, make final adjustments
to the system, and save the settings to a preset.
For information on rack mounting SoundStructure devices or terminating any
of the connectors such as the analog input and output signals refer to the
SoundStructure Hardware Installation Manual or Chapter 11 in this manual.
Configuration Files
Configuration files store all the settings associated with a SoundStructure
project including the system name, the devices and plug-in cards used in the
design, the virtual channel definitions, default channel settings, Ethernet and
RS-232 settings, current device settings, and presets. Configuration files have
an STR extension and are stored as binary files. The basic configuration file
structure is shown in the following figure.
Configuration files are both saved to disk when a File Save option is executed
from SoundStructure Studio.

Any changes to the device settings that need to survive a power cycle should be
saved to presets with the Preset Save operation as described later in this chapter.
