Reproducing Theatrical Atmosphere
In movie theatres, a number of speakers are located on the wall to
reproduce realistic sensation by means of calculated sound
effects, enabling sounds to be heard from all directions.
By locating a number of speakers encircling the audience seats,
localisation of sound and dynamism are remarkably improved.
This system, which makes use of 5 speakers and subwoofer can
reproduce the realistic sensation experienced in the movie
theatres at home.
Surround Mode
Dolby Surround
Dolby Digital*
A multi-channel audio compression format used for DVDs. (This
kind of software bears the
G mark.)
For Dolby Digital 5.1CH, the front left channel, front right channel,
centre channel, rear left channel, rear right channel and
subwoofer channel, a total of 5.1 channels (subwoofer is counted
as 0.1 channel) each produces sound independently, thus
minimising interference between the channels and enabling
reproduction of stereo surround with better sound quality.
This system with its built-in Dolby Digital decoder allows you to
enjoy the Dolby Digital realistic sensation comparable to the
movie theatres and stage theatres.
A DB lights on the front display panel when Dolby Digital
signal is detected.
Dolby Digital EX, which adds a surround back channel to the
conventional Dolby Digital 5.1CH, further enhances the realistic
sensation.
Dolby Pro Logic II (Pro Logic 2)
This system is built-in with a Dolby Pro Logic decoder. It extracts
and playback 5.1-channel sound from 2-channel sound recorded
in Dolby Surround format using matrix circuitry. This will enable
stereo and encircling surround effect.
A similar surround effect can also be obtained through normal 2-
channel stereo sound.
This unit is equipped with Dolby Pro Logic II APL II MOVIEB and
APL II MUSICB.
A PL IIB lights on the front display panel when Dolby Pro Logic
II is activated.

DTS Digital Surround
DTS Digital Surround is used for CDs, LDs, DVDs etc. (This kind
of software bears the
K mark.)
It is another discrete 5.1-channel digital audio format with lower
audio compression rate which enables it to add breadth and
depth to the sounds reproduced.
This system with its built-in DTS surround decoder enables
playing back of DTS digital surround video software.
AB lights when DTS signal is detected.
Digital Theater Systems, Inc. greatly improves the 360 degree
surround and spatial effects through DTS-ES with an additional
surround back channel.
DTS-ES includes two signal formats with different surround
signal recording methods^DTS-ES Discrete 6.1ch and DTS-ES
Matrix 6.1ch.
You can use Virtual Surround Back when playing back DTS-ES
software.
This function creates great surround effects from behind as if
Surround Back speakers are connected.
DTS96/24
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in higher
sampling rates for both recording and playback at home. Higher
sampling rates allow wider frequency range and greater bit
depths providing extended dynamic range.
DTS96/24 is a multi-channel digital signal format (fs 96 kHz/24
bits) adopted by Digital Theater Systems, Inc. to deliver Abetter-
than-CD sound qualityB into the home.
A 96/24B lights when DTS96/24 signal is detected. You can
enjoy its 5.1-channel sound with full quality.
