6 COMMAND/POST Upgrade Guide for HP-UX Systems
Upgrade Planning Checklist and Form
To complete the upgrade successfully, you need to first ensure the availability of the following
checklist items and gather the information to complete the Upgrade Planning Form on page 7:
Hardware Requirements
Three gigabytes in vg00.
Swap space of 2X RAM.
The dump device attached to the COMMAND/POST 3.2.3 database (Sybase) workstation
for backing up the 3.2.3 master and agc databases. To back up to disk file, this device must
be defined in the database.
This device can be either a tape drive or a disk file.
A locally attached tape drive or a mounted file system on the COMMAND/POST 3.2.3
rmdhost workstation for backing up COMMAND/POST configuration and upgrade files
The dump device attached to the COMMAND/POST 4.1 database (Sybase) workstation
for backing up the newly upgraded 4.1 master, agc, and sybsystemprocs databases
This device can be either a tape drive or a disk file and is defined during
COMMAND/POST installation.
A locally attached tape drive or a mounted file system on the COMMAND/POST 4.1
rmdhost workstation for restoring the COMMAND/POST upgrade and configuration files
Two or more blank tapes for a tape drive backup.
Access to a CD-ROM drive for both the COMMAND/POST 3.2.3 rmdhost and the
COMMAND/POST 4.1 rmdhost.
Documentation Requirements
Release Notes for COMMAND/POST 4.1 HP-UX 10.20.
COMMAND/POST 4.1 Installation Guide for HP-UX Systems.
Background Information Requirements
Knowledge of the hardware and hard disk configuration of each workstation where
COMMAND/POST 4.1 will be installed.
Knowledge of how you will distribute the COMMAND/POST servers and daemon
services across multiple workstations, and which workstations will function strictly as
COMMAND/POST Desktops.
