3 Press the YES button.
Finalization begins. During finalization, the
remaining time is displayed. (Finalization takes
approx. 80 seconds.)
The display of the remaining time is only a guide
and the actual time until the process is
completed may be a little before or after.

When finalization finishes
“Complete” appears in the display and finalization
automatically stops.
To stop the finalization process
Press the e button or the EDIT/NO button (before
pressing the YES button in step 3).
Display after finalization
For CD-Rs, the display becomes that for CDs. For
CD-RWs, the display does not change, except that
FINALIZE is added.
Notes:
• Never turn off the power or remove the power
cord during finalization. Doing so may damage
all the data on the disc. An inserted disc can be
corrupt and no longer usable if the power is
accidentally turned off or in case of power
failure.
• Do not shake or subject the CDR-201A to
vibrations during recording, finalizing, erasing,
or while “PMA Writing” is displayed. Doing so
may cause the sound on the disc to skip or the
data on the disc to become unreadable.
• Never finalize discs that are scratched, dirty, or
dusty. The process may not be carried out
properly.
• During finalization, the operation button on the
CDR-201A will be disabled.
Auto finalization
For CD dubbing, you can turn on the auto
finalization function. When auto finalization is
turned on, finalization occurs automatically at the
end of recording. For details, refer to the applicable
pages.
Finalization is a process of writing the TOC data
(track numbers etc.) and the name information
retained in the CDR-201A to the special area (PMA)
of the disc.
After finalization
CD-Rs can be played in CD players. Even after
finalization, CD-RWs can only be played on CD
players that are compatible with CD-RWs.
For finalized CD-Rs, you cannot add more recordings
and name information.
1 Insert the CD-R or CD-RW to be finalized
into the CDR-201A.
2 Press the FINALIZE button.
"Finalize?" appears.
