Setting and Adjusting Surround Mode
Multi-channels Surround Mode
1 Press repeatedly to select
the surround mode.
Each time you press , the display
toggles as follows.
When the speaker position is "F1" or "F2"
( page 8-10)
When the speaker position is "R" ( page
9,10), and stereo sound source is used
When the speaker position is "R" ( page
9,10), and multi-sound source is used
(When the SURROUND mode is ON, the sound
format name is displayed.)
NOTE
When the surround mode is "ON", and the signal
has been surround-processed, the display window
shows "SURROUND".
During recording, the surround mode is tempo-
rarily deselected.
The surround sound cannot be produced when
listening to headphones.
About Surround Mode
When a multi-chan-
nel signal is input
with "AUTO SUR-
ROUND" setting,
this unit automati-
cally determines the
correct format and turns the surround mode "ON".
When a 2ch signal is input, the unit automatically
turns off the surround mode.
Selecting the Surround Mode
Normally this mode should be
turned on.
Select this mode when watching
movies or using sound sources
recorded with multi-sounds.
This mode produces broader sound
compared with the multi-channel
mode. Select this mode when using
the sound source recorded with 2ch
such as sound source or CD.
This mode produces even broader
sound.
Turns off the surround effect.
Normally this mode should
be turned on.

lower left of page 40.
