Note
³None of the features are effective when headphones are used or when radio is selected as the source.

DOLBY DIGITAL
(á page 32)
³Dolby Digital is a discrete 5.1 (6) channel
surround system developed for cinema
use. The sound signals in Dolby Digital
format are compressed to 1/10 their
original size, allowing an entire movie to
be recorded on a single DVD.
³This unit automatically recognizes DVDs
that have been recorded with Dolby
Digital.
³Not all Dolby Digital sources are
recorded with 5.1 (6) channels.
Some sources marked Dolby Digital may
be recorded in Dolby Surround, a 2
channel system.
DVDs encoded with Dolby Digital can be
identified with this mark.
Amplifier modes
When using the above surround systems (except for SIMULATED STEREO), the
amplifier is automatically switched to the surround mode.
In all other cases, the TRI-AMP mode (stereo) is engaged. In this mode, three
separate amplifiers are used to drive the three sections (LOW, MID, and HIGH) of
the two front speakers.
