Glossary
VIDEO CD
A compact disc which contains
moving pictures. VIDEO CDs
contain picture information using
the MPEG 1 format, one of the
world wide standards of digital
compression technology. Picture
information is compressed about
120 times. Consequently, a 12 cm
VIDEO CD can contain up to 74
minutes of moving pictures.
VIDEO CDs also contain
compressed audio information.
Sounds outside the range of human
hearing are compressed while the
sounds we can hear are not
compressed. VIDEO CDs can hold 6
times amount of the audio
information of conventional audio
CDs. There are two versions of the
standards for VIDEO CDs.
Version 1.0 and 1.1: Only play
moving pictures and
sound.
Version 2.0: Adds interactive
playback using PBC
functions and high-
resolution still pictures.
This player conforms to both
versions.
PBC (Play Back Control)
functions
Available on Version 2.0 VIDEO
CDs, which enable you to play the
disc interactively. When PBC
functions are turned on, the PBC
ON/OFF button indicator lights up.
KARAOKE STAR function
This function allows you to obtain
depth of your voice adding a lower
frequency sound to your voice.
