— CD-MD Synchro Recording/CD-MD
High-Speed Synchro Recording
In addition to normal-speed recording, you can
make a digital recording of a CD on an MD at
twice the speed of normal CD-MD Synchro
Recording.
1 Load a recordable MD.
2 Load a CD.
3 Press FUNCTION repeatedly until “CD”
appears in the display.
4 Press CD SYNC NORMAL.
To record at high speed (CD-MD High-
Speed Synchro Recording), press CD
SYNC HIGH.
“NORMAL SPEED” and “NORM” (or
“HIGH SPEED” and “HIGH” for high-
speed recording) appears. The MD deck
stands by for recording and the CD player
pauses for play.
5 Press u (or MD N on the remote).
Recording starts. You cannot monitor the
recorded signal during high-speed
recording.
If “Retry” flashes in the display after
you press u (or MD N on the
remote) in step 5
A reading failure has occurred, and the system
is trying to read the data again.
If the retry was successful, the MD deck
continues with CD-MD High-Speed Synchro
Recording.
If the condition of the loaded CD or the
system is poor, and retry fails, CD-MD
High-Speed Synchro Recording is disabled.
In this case, “NORM” flashes in the display
and the MD deck automatically starts
recording in normal CD-MD Synchro
Recording. Note that monitoring of the
recorded signal is not possible when this
occurs.
To stop recording
Press x.
Tips
You can record only your favorite CD tracks with
CD Program Play. After step 3, follow the same
procedures as from step 2 to 5 in CD Program Play
(see page 11). Then go to step 4.
You can switch the recording mode before step 3
and record for long times. For details, see
“Recording for long times” on page 22.
If you want to record only a portion of a CD track
to an MD, you must first record the entire CD track
(using CD-MD Synchro Recording or Rec It). Then
use the A-B Erase function to erase the unwanted
portions on the MD (see page 30).
Notes
The following items are either inoperative or cannot
be used during CD-MD Synchro Recording and
CD-MD High-Speed Synchro Recording:
— The Auto Cut function (see page 25)
— The recording level specified in the Setup menu
— Recorded signal monitoring (CD-MD High-
Speed Synchro Recording only).
You cannot pause recording during CD-MD
Synchro Recording and CD-MD High-Speed
Synchro Recording.
If you don’t perform step 5 within about 1 minute
after step 4, the system returns to the original
condition.
The sound does not come from the TAPE OUT jack
during CD-MD High-Speed Synchro Recording.
