Surround Sound Set Up
1 Select CHANNEL DELAY (if continuing from last set
up, it will already be selected).
See “Setting Up for Surround Sound“ on page 24 if you are
unsure how to do this.
Press ENTER.
2 Use the 5¥∞ buttons to select a speaker. Specify
the distance from your listening position to each
speaker using the commands below.
1 Press 2 or 3 to adjust the speaker distance in 1 foot
increments from 1 to 30 feet. (1 foot equals approximately
0.3 meters.)
2 Use the 5¥∞ buttons to move to the next set of speakers
3 Repeat for each speaker.
NOTE : Sound takes about 1 ms (millisecond) to travel 1 foot.
3 Select EXIT with the 5¥∞ buttons and press ENTER
to return to the SYSTEM SETUP MENU.
Next, proceed to CHANNEL LEVEL below.

Channel Delay
Adding a slight delay to some speakers is necessary to achieve a surround sound effect. You need to figure out the
distance from your listening position to your speakers to add the proper delay. The following steps show you how to
set the delay time for each channel by specifying the distances from your listening position to each speaker. Once you
specify the speaker distances, the receiver calculates the correct delay times automatically. If continuing from SPEAKER
SETTING go to step 1. If starting fresh, complete steps 1-3 in “Setting Up for Surround Sound“ (p.24) first.
