When the “non-HDCD” mode is selected:
Data in a HDCD disc is output in the same format as
an ordinary CD (16-bit signal).
When signals from HDCD format discs and ordinary
CD discs are recorded onto a single MD, the two types
of signals are recorded at the same recording level.
However, note that recording in the HDCD format (20-
bit) is not possible.
When the “HDCD” mode is selected:
This mode is to be selected to record a HDCD format
CD disc onto an MD without processing the signal. This
enables recording with a wider dynamic range and
finer tone.
However, the HDCD format signals are recorded at a
lower level than the ordinary CD signals.
