138 CHAPTER 6: IP SERVICES COMMANDS
set ip dns domain Configures a default domain name for DNS queries. The wireless LAN
switch appends the default domain name to domain names or
hostnames you enter in commands.
Syntax —
set ip dns domain name
■ name — Domain name of between 1 and 64 alphanumeric characters
with no spaces (for example, example.org).
Defaults — None.
Access — Enabled.
Usage — To override the default domain name when entering a
hostname in a CLI command, enter a period at the end of the hostname.
For example, if the default domain name is example.com, enter
chris. if
the fully qualified hostname is chris and not chris.example.com.
Aliases take precedence over DNS. When you enter a hostname, MSS
checks for an alias with that name first, before using DNS to resolve the
name.
Examples — The following command configures the default domain
name example.com:
WX1200# set ip dns domain example.com
Domain name changed
