2) Audio Outputs
The DP-S1 supports 5.1ch audio in an analog format with the Dolby
Digital and DTS decoders. It also supports digital outputs with optical
and coaxial ports.
z
Audio Format: If you only have a stereo speaker system, you have to
set the audio format as 2ch. If you connect a 5.1ch speaker system
to the DP-S1, choose 5.1ch for the best performance. In order to
decode an audio source with an external audio decoder system, set
the audio format as pass-through. In this setting, the analog audio
output will automatically be disabled.
z
S/PDIF Output: Enables the digital audio output through the coaxial
and optical ports.
NOTE
z
If you set the audio format as 2ch, the DP-S1 mixes down 5.1ch
audio source to 2ch audio.
z
If the content of a channel broadcasted has 2ch audio source, the DP-
S1 can not expand the 2ch audio source to 5.1ch audio format.
Therefore, you can only hear sound from the front speakers even
though you have connected a 5.1ch speaker system and set the DP-
S1 as 5.1ch audio.
z
Unless you set the audio format as 2ch when you connect stereo
speakers to DP-S1, you can not hear sound of 5.1ch source properly.
