6 CD-R/CD-RW disc operations
Caution
Be careful that the power is not accidentally turned off
while the nalize, un-nalize, refresh, or disc/track erase
operations are being executed. If this occurs, the data on
the disc will be corrupted, and it is also possible that the
disc itself will become unusable.
This section explains various operations that you can
perform on a CD-R/CD-RW disc, such as nalizing a
recorded CD-R/CD-RW disc so that it can be played
on a conventional CD player, or erasing all or part of
the tracks on a CD-RW disc.
Finalizing
Finalizing is the operation of writing the TOC (Table
Of Contents: information about the recorded data,
such as the number of songs and the playback start
time of each song) to the CD-R/CD-RW media.
A disc recorded on the CDR632 cannot be played
back on a conventional CD player until the nal TOC
has been written to the disc. (The CDR632 itself will
be able to play the disc even before it has been nal-
ized.)
Normally, no additional recording can be done on
CD-R/CD-RW media once it has been nalized.
However in the case of a CD-RW, you can
un-
nalize
the disc so that additional recording can be
performed.
1 Insert a recorded CD-R/CD-RW disc into
the disc tray.
