station, the search stops. The search may not stop at a station with a
very weak signal.
Presetting Stations
You can tune to a stored station directly by entering the preset
number. You can preset up to 20 stations in the FM band, and up to
20 stations in the AM band.
1. Press
POWER to turn on the unit.
2. Repeatedly press
FUNCTION until the frequency band appears
on the display.
3. Press
BAND to select the desired band.
4. Use
F
TUNING
J
to find your desired station.
5. Press
MEMORY.
6. Repeatedly press
NEXT
J
or
PREV
F
to select a preset
number.
7. Press
MEMORY to store the station.
8. Repeat steps 3-7 to store other stations.
Tuning to a Preset Station
1. Press POWER to turn on the unit.
2. Repeatedly press
FUNCTION until the frequency band appears
on the display.
3. Repeatedly press
BAND to select the desired band.
4. Press
PLAY
K
, and then
NEXT
J
or
PREV
F
to select the
preset station number, or use the number buttons to manually
enter the station number.
Example: To select preset number 15, press +10 and 5.
To select preset number 10, press +10 and 0.
CUSTOMIZING THE FUNCTION SETTINGS
LANGUAGE Setting
1. Repeatedly press FUNCTION until DVD appears on the display.
2. Press
STOP
D
so that no disc is playing.
3. Press
SETUP.
4. Use
f and g to select Language, and press ENTER.
5. Use
d and e to select English, and press ENTER. The screen
changes to English immediately.
6. To exit and return to the normal screen, press
RETURND.
VIDEO Setting
TV Shape
1. Press SETUP.
2. Use
f and g to select Video, and press ENTER.
3. Use
d and e to select TV Shape, and press ENTER.
4. Use
d and e to select the TV type, and press ENTER.
5. To exit and return to the normal screen, press
RETURND.
4:3 Pan Scan
When wide-screen video material is played, the right and left sides of
the image are clipped so that it can be viewed on a conventional TV
screen. Some wide-screen DVDs that do not permit Pan Scan
playback are automatically played in letterbox mode.
4:3 Letter Box
When wide-screen video material is played in this mode on a
conventional TV screen, black bands appear at the top and bottom.
16:9 Wide-screen
This is the correct mode for playing wide-screen videos on a wide-
screen TV. You must also set your screen mode on your wide-screen
TV to FULL. The actual appearance of the image depends on the
screen mode setting of your wide-screen TV.
Notes:
The displayed picture size is preset on the DVD disc. The
playback picture of some DVD discs may not conform to the
picture size you select.
When you play DVD discs recorded in 4:3 picture size, the
playback picture always appears in 4:3 picture size, regardless of
the TV shape setting.
If you select 16:9 wide-screen mode and you own a 4:3 TV set,
the DVD playback picture is horizontally distorted. Images
appear to be horizontally compressed. Be sure that your TV
shape conforms to the actual TV in use.
Video Output
1. Press SETUP.
2. Use
d, e, f or g to select Video, and press ENTER.
3. Use
d, e, f or g to select Video Output, and press ENTER.
4. Use
d, e, f or g to select the signal, and press ENTER.
5. To exit and return to the normal screen, press
RETURND.
Note: Always set Video Output in CVBS, otherwise, the picture on
the TV may be distorted. If this occurs, and you cannot see the
screen, follow these instructions:
1. Press
FUNCTION to select DVD mode.
2. Open the disc tray.
3. Press
SETUP, g , ENTER, d, ENTER, e , ENTER,
and
RETURND.
Brightness
1. Press SETUP.
2. Use
d, e, f or g to select Video, and press ENTER.
3. Use
d, e, f or g to select Brightness, and press ENTER.
