Naming an MD disc or track
You can enter up to 100 alphabetical characters per
name.
Use a recordable MD with the record-protect tab
closed.
1Insert the MD, then select MD as the source.
2To name the disc, proceed to Step 3.
To name a track, select the track.
3Execute Entering a name as described in the
right column.
Naming a group on an MD
1Insert the MD, then select MD as the source.
2Press the GROUP button, then turn MULTI JOG
to select a group.
3Follow the steps described in the Entering a
name section in the right column.
Notes
If the MD is record-protected or a playback-only disc, you
cannot name the disc. (See page 12.)
Before naming the disc, check that no particular track is
selected. If a track is selected, press MD .
You can name a track during recording or playback. How-
ever, if recording or playback of the next track starts, the
naming process may not be completed correctly.
If the MEM, RDM, 1TR, or 1GR indicator is lit, you cannot
name the disc.
Information such as names will be recorded to the TOC of
the MD when you eject the MD, turn off the unit, or stop
recording. Therefore, do not disconnect the AC power
cord (mains lead) or vibrate the unit when the TOC indi-
cator is lit or ashing. (See page 36.)
Naming a preset channel
After you select the preset channel to name, exe-
cute Entering a name as described in the right
column.
You can enter up to eight characters per name.

Press EDIT/CLEAR/NO and turn
MULTI JOG until Name In?
appears in the display.

Press MULTI JOG.

Press DISPLAY repeatedly until
the character type you wish to
enter appears in the display.
You can select one of the following
character entry modes:
•“A for capital letters
•“a for small letters
•“1 for numbers and symbols
•“ for Easy Name* (see next page).
* This mode cannot be selected when you
are naming a preset channel.
