Surround sound settings
Important
This unit’s audio function may be restricted
depending on the Line Output setting
(page 48) and HDMI audio setting
(page 51). In this event, the menus may not
appear.
Using the Sound Setup menu
From the Sound Setup menu you can access
all the surround sound settings of the system.
During setup, the speakers are represented by
the following letters:
L – Front left speaker
C – Center speaker
R – Front right speaker
SR – Surround right speaker
SL – Surround left speaker
SW – Subwoofer
Effective Sound (for optimum
sound)
With the uniquely shaped high-quality
speakers supplied with this unit, the Effective
Sound mode enables the following Pioneer
exclusive audio technologies designed to
maximize the real experience of sound
originally inherent in movies and music.
Turn on the Effective Sound mode under
normal circumstances to maximize the
capabilities of this unit.

Dynamic Range Compression
Resuscitates detailed sound susceptible to
ambient noise to create an acoustic
environment where you feel as if you are
right in the action.
Frequency Characteristic Correction
(LX03BD model only)
Realizes the playback characteristic
optimized for long hours of listening in
addition to the added features of the
supplied speaker units.
The Effective Sound mode can be turned off
(activating Direct Sound mode) by doing the
following:
1 Press
SETUP

2 Select ‘
Sound Setup
’, then press
ENTER

3 Select ‘
Sound Field
’, then press
ENTER
.
4 Select ‘
Direct Sound
’, then press
ENTER
to confirm.
To return to Effective Sound mode, perform the
same procedure noted above to select
EffectiveSound’.
When Direct Sound is selected, the
DIRECT indicator lights.
Note
1 The Sound Field setting is not available when headphones are connected.
