Nº 320S Basic Operation
Linking
Linking is available for all Mark Levinson components that offer
Link communication ports, including master, slave in, slave out,
and communication ports. These communication ports can
be used to “link” compatible Mark Levinson components in a slave
chain, allowing them to share controls such as display intensity,
standby, playback, input selection, and record.
The Nº 320S offers two Link communication ports labeled slave
in and . The slave in communication port can be connected
to a compatible Mark Levinson digital audio processor or digital
transport. The communication port can be connected to a
compatible Mark Levinson power amplifier.
The Nº 320S is compatible with:
• All power amplifiers that offer Link or communication
ports.
• Nº 30, Nº 30.5, and Nº 30.6 Reference Digital Audio Processors
• Nº 31 and Nº 31.5 Reference CD Transports
• Nº 36, Nº 36S, Nº 360, and Nº 360S Digital Audio Processors
• Nº 39 and Nº 390S CD Processors (can be used as either digital
audio processors or digital transports in a slave chain)
• Nº37 CD Transport
• Refer to the appropriate documentation for Link compatibility
information about other Mark Levinson components.
Note
Linking is not available for Mark Levinson digital transports
unless a Mark Levinson digital audio processor is included in
the slave chain. Certain digital transport and digital audio
processor combinations are not Link compatible. Refer to the
appropriate owner’s manual for additional information.
Making Link • DO use Link communication ports, such as master, slave in,
Connections slave out, and communication ports. DO NOT use
RS-232 ports or other rear panel connectors.
• DO use supplied Link communication cables, which are
provided in the Nº 320S accessory carton. Additional Link
communication cables are available at authorized Mark
Levinson dealers.
