Enjoying Surround Sound by Using Decoding Mode
You can enjoy surround sound simply by selecting one of the system’s pre-programmed decoding
modes. They bring exciting and powerful sound of movie theaters into your home.
1 Press SYSTEM MENU.
2 Press X/x repeatedly until “DEC. MODE” appears in the front panel display, then press
or c.
3 Press X/x repeatedly until the decoding mode you want appears in the front panel
display.

“AUTO” 2 CHANNEL
STEREO, WIDE
STAGE and
PORTABLE AUDIO

Selects the decoding mode automatically depending on the disc
or the function selected.
“2CH STEREO”: Outputs 2 channel sound regardless of the
audio signal type being input when an audio disc (e.g., CD,
DATA-CD (MP3), etc.) is played, or when the function is set
to “FM.” The AUTO indicator on the front panel lights up.
• “WIDE STAGE”: Produces a surround sound image with two
front speakers and a subwoofer when an image disc (e.g.,
DVD, VCD, etc.) is played, or when the function is set to “TV”
or “SAT/CABLE.” The AUTO and WIDE STAGE indicators
on the front panel light up.
“PORTABLE AUDIO”: Produces a clear enhanced sound
image from your portable audio device when the function is set
to “USB” or “DMPORT.” The AUTO indicator on the front
panel lights up.
“2CH STEREO” 2 CHANNEL
STEREO
Outputs 2 channel sound regardless of the audio signal type
being input. “2CH STEREO” is applied to the “TV” and “SAT/
CABLE” functions by default.
