specic situation. Please note that, the conguration and
placement of your speakers is critical for creating the best
possible surround sound playback.
This is the preferred speaker setting if you are using
surround backs.
This speaker setting is preferred if you are using dipoles
for your surround rears.
To congure the GTP-880 for your speaker system:
1. Press the menu button to enter the main menu. The
main menu appears on the front panel display and the
OSD. The cursor on the OSD should be pointing to the input
conguration menu and input cong appears on the front
panel display.
2. Press the button once to select the speaker
conguration menu. The cursor on the OSD should be
pointing to the speaker conguration menu and speaker
cong appears on the front panel display.
3. Press select to enter the speaker conguration menu.
The speaker conguration menu appears on the front
panel display and the OSD. The selected menu item
should be front.
The rst three settings in the speaker conguration menu
deal with the type of speakers you are using in your sys-
tem. It is very important that you understand what is
meant by the large and small settings in this menu. They
do not refer to the physical size of the speakers, but to
their ability to handle very powerful deep bass. Most
loudspeaker systems on the market should be classied
as small, since they do not have the capability to handle
the often extraordinary amount of deep bass content lm
soundtracks can contain.
It is strongly recommended that you consult your loud-
speaker instruction manual regarding the capabilities of
your particular system with regard to low bass/low fre-
quency reproduction.
In any case you should consider using a subwoofer for any
system which you expect to effectively handle the low
frequency dynamics of modern motion picture soundtrack
sources such as DVD or HDTV feeds, and many other dis-
crete multichannel programming sources.
