Using audio features
BASIC
OPERATION

You can mix down multi-channel sources to 2 channels
and enjoy playback in 2-channel stereo.
Press
P
STEREO on the remote control
repeatedly to select “2ch Stereo”.
y
You can use a subwoofer with this program when “LFE/BASS
OUT” is set to “SWFR” or “BOTH” (see page 74).
You can also select the “2ch Stereo” mode by rotating the
C
PROGRAM selector on the front panel.
See page 66 for details about the parameters of the “2ch Stereo”
mode.
The night listening modes are designed to improve
listenability at lower volumes or at night.

NIGHT (or

NIGHT) repeatedly to
select “NIGHT:CINEMA” or “NIGHT:MUSIC”.
Choices: NIGHT:CINEMA, NIGHT:MUSIC, OFF
Select “NIGHT:CINEMA” when watching films to
reduce the dynamic range of film soundtracks and
make dialog easier to hear at lower volumes.
Select “NIGHT:MUSIC” when listening to music
sources to preserve ease-of-listening for all sounds.
Select “OFF” if you do not want to use this feature.

When a night listening mode is selected, the NIGHT
indicator lights up in the front panel display.

l / h on the remote control to
adjust the effect level while “NIGHT:CINEMA”
or “NIGHT:MUSIC” is displayed in the front
panel display.
Choices: MIN, MID, MAX
Select “MIN” for minimum compression.
Select “MID” for standard compression.
Select “MAX” for maximum compression.

“NIGHT:CINEMA” and “NIGHT:MUSIC” adjustments are
stored independently.
You cannot use the night listening modes in the following
cases:
–when the Pure Direct mode (see page 48) is selected.
–when the component connected to the MULTI CH
INPUT jacks is selected as the input source (see
page 38).
–when headphones are connected to the PHONES jack.
The night listening modes may vary in effectiveness
depending on the input source and surround sound settings
you use.
