Sound field and sound quality/Other useful functions
You can adjust the amount of bass. The unit automatically selects
the most suitable setting according to the type of playing source.
Press [SUBWOOFER LEVEL].
When DVD-Video or DVD-RAM is selected

The setting you make is retained, and recalled every time you play
the same type of source.
This is one of the ways to get appropriate surround effects.
Preparation
Press [DVD/CD].
1 While stopped and no on-screen display is shown
Press [SHIFT]i[TEST] to output a test
signal.
L: Front left C: Center R: Front right
RS: Right surround LS: Left surround
There is no output from SW (subwoofer) channel.
2 Press [VOLUME, r] or [s] to set the
volume level normally used for listening.
3 Press [3] (increase) or [4] (decrease) to
adjust the speaker level for each speaker.
C, RS, LS: `6dB to i6dB
(L, R: Only the balance is adjustable.)
To adjust the balance of the front speakers
While outputting the test signal, press [2, 1].
Adjust the speaker level to the same level as the front
speakers.
To stop the test signal
Press [SHIFT]i[TEST] again.
To adjust speaker level during play
(Effective when playing multi-channel audio or when Dolby Pro
Logic II or Super Surround is on.)
1 Press [CH SELECT] to select the speaker.

SW: Subwoofer
You can adjust SW only if the disc includes a subwoofer
channel.
“SW” does not appear on the display and is not adjustable
when Dolby Pro Logic II is turned on.
“S” appears on the display when “MUSIC” or “MOVIE” is
selected with Super Surround (page 30). In this case, you
can adjust both surround speaker levels at the same time
using [3, 4].

To cancel the timer
Press [SHIFT]i[SLEEP] to select “OFF”.
To confirm the remaining time
Press [SHIFT]i[SLEEP] again.
To change the setting
Repeat the procedure from the beginning.
Press [MUTING].
“MUTING” flashes on the unit’s display.
To cancel
Press [MUTING] again or reduce the volume to minimum (– – dB),
then raise it to the required level.
Muting is canceled when you switch the unit to standby.
