TROUBLE CHECKS
Poor radio reception
l
Check AM/FM antenna connections.
l
Adjust antenna position for better reception.
l
Try turning off electrical appliances near the unit - including hair
dryers, vacuum cleaners, and fluorescent lights.
Compact disc will not play
l
Be sure the disc tray contains a disc.
l
Assure that all discs are inserted label side up.
l
Clean discs as explained in “Care and Maintenance.”
l
Press HI (PLAY/PAUSE) to begin play from pause or stop mode.
l
Be sure CD source button is selected.
Compact disc sound skips
l
Clean the disc as explained in “Care and Maintenance.”
l
Check for warping, scratches, or other damage to the disc. Do not
insert damaged discs into the disc tray.
l
Check for vibration or shock that may affect the CD player. If
necessary, move it to a different location.
Distorted or noisy recordings
l
Inspect recording heads. Clean them, if necessary, using pro-
cedures explained in “Care and Maintenance.”
l
Demagnetize recording heads following steps explained in “Care
and Maintenance.”
Remote control does not work
l
Be sure the CD player is plugged into a working AC outlet.
l
Press POWER button to assure that the system is set to POWER
ON mode (display is lit).
l
Press the function button qn the remote that activates the desired
component: TUNER, TAPE, CD or AUX.
l
Replace batteries if they are weak. Assure that batteries face in
the directions indicated inside the battery chamber of the remote
control.
l
Point the remote control directly at the SENSOR eye while press-
ing buttons.
l
Move closer to system while using the remote control.
l
Be sure there are no obstacles between the remote and the
system.
