To fast-forward or rewind the tape
Press [ ] or [ ] in the stop mode.
Before recording (Deck 2 only)
Types of tapes which can record correctly
The unit automatically identifies the type of tape.
Metal position tapes can be used, but the unit will not be able to
record or erase them correctly.
To record from the beginning of the tape
You cannot record on the leader part of the tape. Before recording,
wind the tape past the leader to a point where recording can start im-
mediately.

Listening to tapes
TPS finds the beginning of a track and resumes play from there. Each
press increases the number of tracks skipped, up to a maximum of 9.
Press [ ] or [ ] during play.
Note
TPS searches for silent parts of about 4 seconds normally found be-
tween tunes. As a result, it may not function properly in the following
cases.
With short silent parts
When noise occurs between tunes
With silent parts found within tunes
To find the beginning of a program

Wind the tape on to the position you want recording to start from.
To start recording from the reverse side
Insert the cassette into deck 2 and follow these steps to change the
side.
1. Press [TAPE DECK 1/2] so the deck 2 indicator lights.
2. Press [ ; ] then [ ]. Tape direction will be shown as .
How volume, sound quality/field affect
recording
The tape you are recording is not affected whatsoever by changes in
volume, sound quality/field.
To erase a recorded sound
1. Press [TAPE DECK 1/2].
2. Insert the recorded tape into deck 2.
3. Press [REV MODE] to select reverse mode.
4. Press [ REC/STOP].
Note
You cannot open deck 1 while recording.
You cannot fast-forward or rewind one deck while recording with the
other.
