FTP
You can use FTP to retrieve a text version (event.txt) of the event log.
• The event.txt file is Tab-delineated so that it can be easily
imported into any spreadsheet application.
• It reports as many as 5000 events that occurred since the log
was last deleted.
• It includes information that is not in the Web interface and Con-
trol Console event log displays.
– The version of the event.txt file format (first field).
– The
Date
and
Time
the event.txt file was retrieved.
– The
Name
,
Contact
,
Location
, and IP address of the Man-
agement Card.
– The unique
Event Code
for every type of event.
Note:
The Management Card always uses 4-digit year rep-
resentation when logging and displaying event data.
However, you may need to select a 4-digit date for-
mat in the spreadsheet to display all four digits.
To use FTP to retrieve the event.txt file, do the following:
1. At a command prompt, type ftp and the IP address of the
Management Card, and press E

2. Log in.
Note:
Case-sensitive
User Name
and
Password
settings (
apc
is the default for both) protect FTP access. You use the
Network
menu (the
FTP option
in the Control Console or
the
TFTP & FTP
option in Web interface) to change
these settings.
3. Use the get command to transmit the text-version of the event
log to your local drive.
ftp>get event.txt
4. You can use the delete command to clear all events from the
log. You will not be asked to confirm the deletion. A new
event.txt file will be created immediately to record a Deleted Log
event.
ftp>del event.txt
250 Requested file action okay, completed.
ftp>
5. Use the quit command to exit from FTP.
ftp>quit
