Reproduces the sound characteristics of Sony
Pictures Entertainment’s classic editing studio
using the 3D sound imaging of V.SEMI M.D.
to create 5 sets of virtual speakers surrounding
the listener from the sound of the front
speakers.
x Semi Cinema Studio EX. B
(SEMI C.EX B)*
Reproduces the sound characteristics of Sony
Pictures Entertainment’s mixing studio which
is one of the most up-to-date facilities in
Hollywood. The 3D sound imaging of V.SEMI
M.D. is used to create 5 sets of virtual speakers
surrounding the listener from the sound of the
front speakers.

Reproduces the sound characteristics of Sony
Pictures Entertainment’s BGM recording studio
using the 3D sound imaging of V.SEMI M.D.
to create 5 sets of virtual speakers surrounding
the listener from the sound of the front
speakers.
x Virtual Semi Multi Dimension
(V.SEMI M.D.)*
Uses 3D sound imaging to create virtual rear
speakers from the sound of the front speakers.
This mode creates 5 sets of virtual speakers
surrounding the listener at a 30° angle of
elevation.
x Virtual Enhanced Surround A
(V.ENHANCE.A)*
Uses 3D sound imaging to create 3 sets of
virtual rear speakers from the sound of the front
speakers.
x Virtual Enhanced Surround B
(V.ENHANCE.B)*
Uses 3D sound imaging to create 1 set of
virtual rear speakers from the sound of the front
speakers.
* “VIRTUAL” sound field: Sound field with virtual
speakers. However, for “SEMI C.EX A–C”, the
sound characteristics of each cinema production
studio is reproduced without virtual speakers when
“VIR.SP.” in the SUR menu is set to “OFF”.
Notes
The sound field you can select depends on the mode
currently selected (MUSIC MODE or MOVIE
MODE). If the button (MUSIC MODE or MOVIE
MODE) for the sound field you want does not light
up, you cannot select the sound field by turning
FILE SELECT. Press MUSIC MODE or MOVIE
MODE first to light the indicator.
The effects provided by the virtual speakers may
cause increased noise in the playback signal.
If you change the settings of sound, such as
changing the sound field menu, while recording, the
recording sound is interrupted at the point.
