Static Addresses Allowed-to Binary Table
The Allowed-to field specifies where the frames arriving on a given
address and bridge port must be forwarded to. This field consists of two
nibbles, each of which is a hexadecimal number whose binary value
signifies the bridge ports to be forwarded to within the specified bridge.
Five bits are used, corresponding to the 5 bridge ports - 4 Fast Ethernet
ports and 1 internal ATM port as shown in the following table.
If, for example, the Allowed-to field is “f800”, then the frames will be
forwarded to bridge ports 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. If the Allowed-to field is
“1800” then the frames will be forwarded to bridge ports 4 and 5.
