Tips
• “PRO LOGIC” lights up in the display when Pro
Logic decoding is performed.
• “PRO LOGIC II” lights up in the display when
Pro Logic II Movie/Music mode decoding is
performed.
• “VIRTUAL” lights up in the display when
“HP VIRTUAL”, “VIRTUAL A”, or “VIRTUAL B”
is selected.
• “VIRTUAL” and “DCS” light up in the display when
“V.M.DIM” is selected.
• “SURR” lights up in the display when “HP SURR”,
“2CH SURR”, or “LINK SURR” is selected.

You can use the subwoofer to enhance the bass.
Press SUB WOOFER ON/OFF on the unit
repeatedly until the indicator lights up.
The subwoofer is turned on.
To turn off the subwoofer
Press SUB WOOFER ON/OFF on the unit
repeatedly until the indicator turns off again.
Note
If the “SUBWOOFER” is set to “NONE” in the
“SIZE” setting (page 53), there will be no sound output
from the subwoofer, even though you have turned on
the subwoofer.
You can sing along with any multiplex AUDIO
CD, multiplex VIDEO CD or DVD VIDEO in
Dolby Digital Karaoke format. You need to
connect an optional microphone.
Preparing for karaoke
(DVD VIDEO, DVD-R/DVD-RW in VR
mode, VIDEO CD, AUDIO CD, MP3
audio tracks and DivX video files
only)
1 Press FUNCTION +/– repeatedly to
select “DVD” (or press DVD on the
unit).
2 Turn MIC 1 LEVEL or MIC 2 LEVEL on
the unit to MIN to reduce the
microphone volume.
Note
(MHC-GNZ55D only)
Turn MIC LEVEL on the unit to MIN to reduce
the microphone volume.
3 Turn ECHO LEVEL on the unit to MIN to
cancel the echo effect (except for
MHC-GNZ55D).
4 Connect an optional microphone to
MIC 1 or MIC 2 jack on the unit.
The Karaoke Mode is turned on.
“KARAOKE MODE: ON” appears on the
TV screen and “m” lights up in the display.

(MHC-GNZ55D only)
Connect an optional microphone to MIC jack on
the unit.
Tip
(Except for MHC-GNZ55D)
You need to connect 2 microphones if you want
to sing duet.
5 Start playing the music and adjust the
volume.
Note
If Karaoke Mode is turned on:
– during DVD VIDEO, DVD-R/DVD-RW in VR
mode or DivX video files playback, the system
outputs the audio format that you have selected.
– during AUDIO CD, VIDEO CD or MP3 audio
tracks playback, the audio setting automatically
changes to “1/L” and the system outputs the left
channel audio on both front and surround
channels.
– and you want to hear vocal, press AUDIO
repeatedly to select another audio channel.
