CD HANDLING
Forgetting all the hype that surrounded the launch of compact disc -
1. Never handle the playing surface of the disc.
2. Scratches on either side of the disc activate correction circuits on a transport.
This process complicates the retrieval of information and may result in
degradation of sound quality.
3. The perimeter of the CD centre hole must be kept in pristine condition, as a
transport relies on an accurate fit of the hole to the spindle to maintain the
highest performance.
4. Keep your disc away from excessive heat. Warped discs complicate the
retrieval of information and may result in degradation of sound quality.
As a general rule CDs should be looked after with the same care as your records.
Remember, the condition of both are vital in achieving the best results from your
hi fi system.
