Recording using Synchro-Start
A Synchro-Start function is provided for recording from
the CD 820 M and DVD 820 M. When you use this
function the CC 820 M automatically controls the
playback of the CD in the CD 820 M / DVD 820 M. Since
the CC 820 M has sole control over the procedure, it is
possible, for example, to change the CD in the
CD 820 M / DVD 820 M during recording breaks, or
choose a different piece.
The M-system helps you make recordings in the
following ways:
The listening source you last used is automatically
selected as the recording source as soon as the
CC 820 M is placed in the record-ready state.
Operating the CC 820 M automatically starts and
stops the CD playback process.
The recording process stops automatically at the end
of the CD or program.
Transferring a CD to tape using the
synchro-function:
1. Place your selected CD in the CD 820 M /
DVD 820 M.
2. Select the CD player as listening source by pressing
the
button on the remote control handset or
the
button on the PT 820 M.
3. If you only want to transfer a few tracks from the CD
you can now create a program in the usual way.
4. Select TAPE 1 as listening source by pressing the
button on the remote control handset or the
button on the PT 820 M.

6. Now locate the point on the cassette at which you
want the recording to begin.
7. Hold the
button on the CC 820 M pressed in
for several seconds to start the calibration process.
8. Place the CC 820 M in record-ready mode by
pressing the
button on the tape recorder. If
you want to adjust the recording level you can search
for a very loud music passage using the buttons
,
,
and
on the
CD 820 M / DVD 820 M and make adjustments as
described under 'Setting the recording level'. To do
this select CD as the temporary listening source, so
that you can see the CD messages on the screen.
When you are satisfied, stop the CD playback by
pressing the
button on the CD 820 M /
DVD 820 M.
9. To start recording press the
or
button
on the CC 820 M for the appropriate direction. The
CD starts playing automatically.
Using the remote control handset you can only
interrupt the recording process using the
button. Pressing it again resumes recording in the
same direction. Pressing the
button ends the
recording.
10. When all the selected tracks on the CD have played,
the CD 820 M / DVD 820 M stops playing the disc
and the CC 820 M is switched to the Pause or record-
ready state.
Recording several pieces from different
CDs:
Steps 1. to 8.: as above.
9. Press the
button on the CD 820 M /
DVD 820 M to set the machine to the Pause state.
Use the

DVD 820 M to select the piece required. It is a good
idea to select the CD as the temporary listening
source so that you can see the CD messages on the
screen.
10. To start recording select TAPE 1 as listening source,
then press the
button on the remote control
handset for the current tape direction. Alternatively
press the
or
button on the CC 820 M
to start recording in the corresponding direction. The
CD starts playing automatically.
11. When the piece is finished press the
button
on the remote control handset or the
or
button on the CC 820 M - depending on the
direction of tape travel - to pause the recording
process. CD playback pauses automatically.
12. You can now change the CD. You can also create a
new playback program if necessary.
13. Repeat the steps described under points 9. to 11. for
all the pieces you wish to record.
Note:
To simplify the procedure a value of about 29 can be
assumed correct for recordings from the CD 820 M /
DVD 820 M. This level is generally optimum for the
majority of CDs.
Calibrating cassettes of the same make and type is
good practice but is not essential.
This means that you can skip points 7. and 8. if you
are using cassettes of the same type.
