Preparing to make a recording
If you wish to obtain optimum results when making a
recording, it is important that you carry out the following
procedure every time:
a) Calibrate the tape material (ATC)
b) Set the recording level accurately
c) Adjust the balance
d) Correct the bias setting if necessary
After a long press on the
button the ATC circuit
checks the tape in the cassette, and adjusts the machine
for a perfectly linear frequency response. The processes
b - c can be carried out during the recording as well
during "record ready mode".
f) Switch the CC 820 M to "record ready mode"
(press the
button briefly)
The CC 820 M records the signal of the current
auditioning source.
Exception:
If TAPE 1 is the current auditioning source, the system
selects that source which was active before switching to
TAPE 1.
Note:
If your M-system includes a DD 820 M and you select
TAPE 1 as source, you may need to press the
button before the signal to be recorded is present at the
input of the CC 820 M.
Note:
To avoid the risk of switching to an incorrect source, only
the sources TAPE 1 and the recording source can be
selected during the recording process, and when you are
preparing to record.
During recording preparations and the actual recording
process the screen displays the VU meter at bottom right
below the digital tape counter; this is needed to set the
correct recording level.
To warn you that recording mode is selected, the LED
above the
button and the red REC indicator on
the PT 820 M light up; this also flashes to indicate the
operating mode Record + PAUSE. The tape direction
indicator (
) shows the current tape side.
According to the diagram below you can now cycle
through the processes of recording level, balance,
manual bias correction and back to "record ready mode"
by repeatedly pressing the
button.
Pressing the
button ends the PREPARING
process immediately.
