Precautions
On safety
Caution — The use of optical
instruments with this product will
increase eye hazard.
Should any solid object or liquid fall
into the cabinet, unplug the CD
Receiver and have it checked by
qualified personnel before operating it
any further.
Do not disassemble the cabinet as this
may result in an electrical shock.
Refer servicing to qualified personnel
only.
On power sources
Before operating the CD Receiver,
check that the operating voltage of the
CD Receiver is identical with your
local power supply. The operating
voltage is indicated on the nameplate
at the rear of the CD Receiver.
The CD Receiver is not disconnected
from the AC power source (mains) as
long as it is connected to the wall
outlet, even if the CD Receiver itself
has been turned off.
If you are not going to use the CD
Receiver for a long time, be sure to
disconnect the CD Receiver from the
wall outlet. To disconnect the AC
power cord (mains lead), grasp the
plug itself; never pull the cord.
AC power cord (mains lead) must be
changed only at the qualified service
shop.
On placement
Place the CD Receiver in a location
with adequate ventilation to prevent
heat build-up in the CD Receiver.
Do not place the CD Receiver on a soft
surface such as a rug that might block
the ventilation holes on the bottom.
Do not place the CD Receiver in a
location near heat sources, or in a
place subject to direct sunlight,
excessive dust or mechanical shock.
On operation
If the CD Receiver is brought directly
from a cold to a warm location, or is
placed in a very damp room, moisture
may condense on the lenses inside this
unit. Should this occur, the unit may
not operate properly. In this case,
remove the CD and leave the CD
Receiver turned on for about an hour
until the moisture evaporates.
Before connecting other components,
be sure to turn off and unplug the CD
Receiver.
On adjusting volume
Do not turn up the volume while
listening to a portion with very low
level inputs or no audio signals. If you
do, the speakers may be damaged
when a peak level portion is played.
On cleaning
Clean the cabinet, panel and controls
with a soft cloth slightly moistened
with a mild detergent solution. Do not
use any type of abrasive pad, scouring
powder or solvent such as alcohol or
benzine.
On transportation
Be sure to remove the CD.
On repacking
Do not throw away the carton and the
packing material. This makes an ideal
container when transporting the CD
Receiver. When shipping the CD
Receiver, repack it as it was packed at
the factory.
If you have any questions or
problems concerning your CD
Receiver, please consult your
nearest Sony dealer.
