x DISTANCE
The default distance setting for the speakers in
relation to the listening position is shown below.
Be sure to change the value in the Setup Display
when you move the speakers.
Notes
• In SPEAKER SETUP, the North American model’s
OSD displays both metric and imperial
measurements. The other model displays metric
measurements only. The manual shows both.
• When you set the distance, the sound cuts off for a
moment.
• If all front and surround speakers are not placed at an
equal distance from your listening position, set the
distance according to the closest speaker.
• Do not place the surround speakers farther away from
your listening position than the front speakers.
• The DISTANCE setting is available except for Super
Audio CDs.
x LEVEL
You can vary the level of each speaker as
follows. Be sure to set “TEST TONE” to “ON”
for easy adjustment.
x BALANCE
You can vary the balance of the left and right
speakers as follows. Be sure to set “TEST
TONE” to “ON” for easy adjustment.
To adjust the volume of all the
speakers at one time
Use the VOLUME control on the system, or
press VOLUME +/–.
x TEST TONE
The speakers will emit a test tone to adjust
“LEVEL” and “BALANCE.”
FRONT

Front speaker distance from the
listening position can be set in 0.2
metre (1 ft) increments from 1.0 to 7.0
metres (3 to 23 ft).
CENTER
3 m/10 ft
Centre speaker distance can be moved
up to 1.6 metres (5 ft) forward closer
to the listening position, in 0.2 metre
(1 ft) increments.
SURROUND
3 m/10 ft
Surround speaker distance can be
moved up to 4.6 metres (15 ft) closer
to your listening position from the
front speaker position, in 0.2 metre
(1 ft) increments.

CENTER

Adjusts the level of the centre
speaker (–6 dB to +6 dB, 1 dB
increments).
SURROUND

increments).
SUBWOOFER

Adjusts the level of the subwoofer
(–6 dB to +6 dB, 1 dB increments).
FRONT
Adjusts the balance between the front left
and right speakers.
OFF
The test tone is not emitted from the
speakers.
ON
The test tone is emitted from each speaker
in sequence while adjusting balance or
level. When you select one of the
“SPEAKER SETUP” items, the test tone is
emitted from both left and right speakers
simultaneously.
