DVD discs can be published with audience rating information or with multiple versions of the video
appropriate for different audiences. The ratings menu is designed to allow parents to limit what sort
of DVD programs can be watched by other family members without the parents’ private password.
(Unfortunately, as of the publication date of this manual, many DVDs are published without rating
information and will play regardless of the parental control setting.)
