Description of the PTY codes:
Alarm function
If an ALARM (Emergency) signal is received
from a station while listening to the radio, the unit
automatically switches to the station broadcasting
the ALARM signal, except when you are
listening to non-RDS stationsall AM (MW) and
some FM stations.
Test function
The TEST signal is used for testing the
ALARM signal.
Therefore, it makes the unit work in the same way
as the ALARM signal does.
If a TEST signal is received from a station while
listening to the radio, the unit automatically
switches to the station broadcasting the TEST
signal, except when you are listening to non-RDS
stationsall AM (MW) and some FM stations.
Classification of the PTY codes for some FM
stations may be different from the above list on
this page.
NATION M: Current popular music of the nation or
region in that countrys language.
OLDIES: Music from the so-called golden age of
popular music.
FOLK M: Music which has its roots in the musical
culture of a particular nation.
DOCUMENT: Program concerning factual matters,
presented in an investigative style.
TEST: Broadcasts for testing emergency broadcast
equipment or receiver.
ALARM: Emergency announcement.
