1 Set VOLUME to the “m
position.
2 Turn the power on.
3 Press SPEAKERS A or B
to select the main
speakers to be used.
If you use two main speaker
systems, press both A and B.

4 Select the desired input
source with INPUT (or the
input selector buttons).
(Turn on the TV monitor for
video sources.)
The name of the selected input
source appears on the display.
a. To select a tape or an MD source
Press TAPE/MD MON / EXT.
DECODER (or TAPE/MD) so
that the “TAPE/MD
MONITOR” indicator lights up
on the display.
b. To select a source connected to the
EXTERNAL DECODER INPUT terminals
Press TAPE/MD MON / EXT. DECODER repeatedly
(or EXT. DEC.) until “EXT. DECODER” appears on
the display.
Notes
An audio source can not be played if the “TAPE/MD MONITOR”
indicator lights up or if “EXT. DECODER” appears. Press TAPE/
MD MON / EXT. DECODER twice (or TAPE/MD once) to turn
off the “TAPE/MD MONITOR” indicator. Press TAPE/MD
MON / EXT. DECODER once (or EXT. DEC.) to turn off “EXT.
DECODER”.
If you select and play a video source when the “TAPE/MD
MONITOR” indicator lights up or “EXT. DECODER” appears,
the play back result will be a video image from the video source
and the sound from the audio source selected by using TAPE/MD
MON / EXT. DECODER (or TAPE/MD or EXT. DEC.).

current input mode is also shown. Refer to page 21 for details about
the input mode.
