The unit does not turn

Cause
• The power plug is not inserted
completely.
• The cables are not connected
securely.
• The cables are not connected
correctly.
• The input source equipment has
not been selected.
•
The MASTER VOLUME knob on
the amplifier is set to the minimum.
• The Muting mode is set on the
amplifier.
• The audio connection cables and
speaker cables are not connected
properly.
• The STEREO mode is set.
• The output level is not adjusted
correctly.
• The Center mode is set to
“PHANTOM” when the Surround
mode is “DOLBY PRO LOGIC”.
• The Surround mode is set to
“HALL” or “ARENA”.
• The STEREO mode is set.
• The output levels of the Surround
speakers are not adjusted
correctly.
• The Surround mode is set to
“DOLBY 3 STEREO”.
• The video source is connected to
the VIDEO IN jacks.
• The S-Video cables are not
connected completely.
• The Multi-channel input mode is
set.
• The multi-channel input source is
not connected correctly.
• The batteries are not installed
correctly.
• The batteries are run down.
Remedy
• Insert the unit’s power plug completely into
a power outlet. [See page 10.]
• Check again the connection and connect the
plugs and cables securely. [See pages 6 and
7.]
• Check that the video and audio cables are
connected correctly.

• Check the input source connection and
select the correct input source by pressing
the correct input selector button (LINE,
VIDEO-1/2, MULTI-CH INPUT). [See
pages 14 to 16.]
• Set the sound volume properly.

• Press the MUTING button on the amplifier
to cancel the Muting mode.
• Check the connection again and connect the
plugs and cables properly. [See page 6.]
• Press the EFFECT button to select a correct
Surround mode.
• Adjust the output level of the Center speaker
to the correct level.

• Set the Center mode to “NORMAL”. [See
page 13.]
• Set the Surround mode to “DOLBY PRO
LOGIC”, “DOLBY 3 STEREO”, or
“LIVE”. [See pages 12 to 15.]
• Press the EFFECT button to select the
correct Surround mode.
• Adjust the output levels of the Surround
speakers to correct levels.

• Press the MODE button to select “DOLBY
PRO LOGIC”, “HALL”, “LIVE”, or
“ARENA”. [See pages 12 to 15.]
• The signals input to the VIDEO IN jacks are
not output from the S VIDEO MONITOR
OUT jack. Connect the video source to the
S VIDEO IN jack or connect the TV to the
VIDEO MONITOR OUT jack.

• The test tone does not sound when the
Multi-channel input mode is set.

• Check the connection for the multi-channel

Troubleshooting
If you have any problems with the unit, please check the troubleshooting table below.
This unit contains a sensitive microcomputer, which under certain circumstances might fail to operate due to excessive noise
interference. In such an event, disconnect the main plug from the electrical outlet and reconnect it after 5 seconds. Please also ensure
that all system connections are correct and secure.
If the problem persists, or if the symptom is not found in the troubleshooting table, disconnect the power cord, and notify your Onkyo
service station. Include your name, address, and telephone number, as well as the product name, model number (ED-205), serial
number, and a detailed description of the problem.
